The Suits Come to the Athens of America

So today some suit from Washington who is part of Homeland Security went on television to say that he found no fault in the way that Boston authorities handled the ATHF marketing campaign. I thought that his soundbite was interesting, though:" In this world we live in, post 9/11, people have to think things through a little more clearly"

Forgive me if that isn't 100% verbatim, but that is essentially what he said. I agree with the part about thinking things through a little more clearly, but I believe that most appropriately applies to the media and authorities.

Well, thank god someone has a sense of humor, because the media here certainly doesn't; NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me had a funny little bit about Boston's shame that concluded "only in the Athens of America" could such hysteria come from a pixelated cartoon character. I appreciated that they pointed out, to much laughter from the audience, that nobody in nine other American cities had decided that panic was the appropriate course of action when encountering a member of the ATHF.
